Tree Wrestling - Vectors of Strength

Applying vectors of strength is how we put the 'wrestling' in Tree Wrestling. Into the feeling of our tree we are going to try our strength. For example, once we have created our tree feeling we may introduce a lifting vector, like we are trying to rip our tree up out of the ground. Like with creating our tree, the idea is to use strong intent to trigger the whole body to respond 'as if' we were actually trying to lift something immovable.

It is important to induce the feeling of lifting the tree without losing the feeling holding the tree. Isometric tension where one muscle chain is simply resisting another is NOT what we are looking for. The tension we create must be contributing to the action being Feelized. In other words, the tension we are seeking is that which is called by our intent, tension that is not in direct relationship with that intent is what we want to get rid of.

Bit by bit we want to recruit more and more of our physiology to support the intended vector. If we relax too much we loose the feeling of our tree, lose tensegrity. If we tense too much we lose the feeling of the tree, lose tensegrity. Marching the middle path we endeavor to apply more strength while maintaining systemic balance.
